How I know when it is the strip and not just the gearbox
Plenty of multipoint problems are the gearbox alone, and that is a cheaper fix. The whole strip is a bigger job, so I only recommend it when the strip has actually gone. If the hooks are chewed, a roller has snapped, or the bar has bent and jammed the lot, no realignment or single gearbox swap will hold it for long. I will take the strip out, have a proper look, and tell you straight which way to go. If a gearbox or a bit of adjustment would do the job, I will say so and save you the money.
Getting the door right after the strip goes in
A new strip is only half of it. The door has to be re-hung true so the hooks and rollers meet the keeps cleanly, otherwise the new parts wear out the same way the old ones did. Once the strip is in I re-test the cylinder and handles, check the keys turn without forcing, and make sure the door pulls up and locks with no drag. If your cylinder is old while the door is open, I can talk you through an anti-snap TS007 3-star upgrade from £150 at the same visit, but only if it is worth doing. No pressure either way.
